UNITED UNVEIL NEW SIGNING
Newcastle United have unveiled an exciting new partnership which
is set to take its St. James' Park home soaring into the new
millennium.
The spark of inspiration is provided by KBR, providers of IT and
Networking Solutions based in Birtley, County Durham.
KBR won the contract to supply and fit the all new St. James' Park with
the latest in cabling and networking equipment and completed this exciting project just hours before United's first home game against Derby County.
Jason Sellars of Newcastle United had no hesitation in signing up KBR:
"KBR have a proven track record in providing cost-effective and efficient
IT solutions and they possess the necessary levels of expertise and professionalism which one of European football's highest profile clubs
demand. We were confident in KBR's ability to deliver an excellent skill
base and to provide continued maintenance for our future development. It
is not often that you can rely on a partner that can deliver 100% accuracy,
first time and within a strict timescale and budget."
The project included 43,600 metres of cable, 480 outlets, 24 Multicores
and more than a dozen switches. KBR's objective was to install the
latest data and voice cabling and networking facilities throughout the
ground including the new corporate facilities, press box and the pioneering Learning Centre opened by Tony Blair in November 2000.
The Learning Centre is a purpose built, state of the art learning centre in
the incredible new Milburn Stand which, along with the Sir John Hall
Stand expansion has increased capacity at St. James' Park to 52,173.
Housing two learning environments, this centre focuses on ICT to develop literacy and numeracy skills and opens its doors to 1,000 pupils and over
500 adults per week.
KBR provide cabling and networking solutions for a vast array of
prestigious clients throughout the North of England. The challenge to install
a unique system within St. James' Park was tackled with efficiency and expertise befitting the football team's recent good form.
KBR's Marketing Manager revealed;
"The most interesting aspect of this project was to provide Newcastle
United with a unique cabling and networking system that would not only
offer an efficient service today, but has the scope to support the club in
what is clearly an exciting future."
