Robin Price

Managing Director

Robin’s first job was as a Sales Executive at Burroughs Machines, a computer systems company, which at the time was one of the largest IT companies in the world. Robin was responsible for developing business in the North of England, which allowed him to meet his future business partners Ken and Bob – hence the name KBR!

After gaining in-depth knowledge into how businesses operate and the technical aspects needed to run a technology company, Robin was passionate about starting his own business, and that’s when KBR was formed.

As Managing Director, Robin is now responsible for KBR’s finances, HR and internal communications.

Robin’s favorite quote

Sales Director

Michael Wilkinson
Sales Director

Michael is responsible for managing the KBR sales team and ensuring customers are provided with a first class service. An average day for Michael includes consulting with schools via telephone and email, preparing quotations, visiting schools and providing support in choosing the right solution.

Why Michael believes WiFi internet is so important for education

The internet is important for education because there is a huge amount of education material on the internet. WiFi is important for education because over the last few years the use of iPads and personal devices has multiplied and they are now being used for video streaming as well as downloading data. This means that the use of the wireless network has increased to accommodate this. WiFi also allows a more flexible approach to learning which make education more inclusive.

Gareth Tomlin

Technical Director

Gareth Tomlin
Technical Director

Gareth is responsible for looking after KBR’s Technical Product Portfolio, managing the Technical Engineering Department and providing pre-sale technical support. He is accountable for designing KBR’s more complex technical solutions and creating bespoke solutions for clients, which has included some of Europe’s largest internal WiFi and outdoor wireless networks.

With an in-depth background in technology solutions, Gareth started his career when studying Software Engineering at University. After his studies, Gareth went on to work for a specialist medical software solutions company as a System Support Engineer. He then moved up the ladder and became European Network Manager for a global technology company.

Gareth’s future technology prediction

“I believe it will become what is already being termed “the internet of things”. This involves the networking of items such as domestic appliances. It will mean your fridge will tell you when it runs out of milk, butter or yogurts, and even place food orders on your behalf. In a nut shell, these items will be able to “speak” to us using the internet.”

Gareth’s would like to ask…

Sir Tim Berners-Lee if the World Wide Web has become what he hoped and imagined it would be.

Mike Allen

Mike Allen
Operations Director

Mike is responsible for planning installation, implementing Health and Safety and coordinating staff training at KBR.

Mike has a Certified Network Infrastructure Design Professional (CNIDP) qualification and a number of manufacturer accreditations, which has armed him with the full skills-set and knowledge needed to complete detailed design and well-planned data communications projects.

With an in-depth background in structured cable installation, telecommunications and engineering, Mike has extensive technical skills, as well as significant project management and engineering experience. He ensures that everyone within KBR is adequately trained and qualified to carry out our installation works safely, himself holding the same H&S qualifications as the installation team as well as IOSH, SSSTS and other qualifications besides.

The way Mike has seen the industry change…

“Whilst data cabling is still an ongoing requirement for all areas of the IT industry, the implementation and reliance on good wireless communications is by far the main priority. Wireless used to be seen as an added enhancement to a network, it’s now regarded as a must have priority requirement for all modern networks.”

Mike’s hobbies

“I have a passion for building and repairing things. As long as it’s mechanical and a bit unusual I’m interested. I’ve recently taken up motorcycling again and currently planning a trip around the coast roads of England, Scotland & Wales with a group of good friends.”
