BURNSIDE BENEFIT FROM MAJOR INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARD INSTALLATION
Background
The move into a brand new school building encouraged staff at Burnside Community High School to review the school's ICT facilities. Already in possession of two interactive whiteboards, teachers at the school were
familiar with the benefits of interactive learning and recognised the
advantages that this technology could bring to the delivery of lessons.
Having seen many interactive whiteboard demonstrations and through knowledge gained at ICT strategy courses, the head teacher and deputy
head teacher soon began to advocate interactive whiteboard technology as
an important part of the future for the new school. With funding allocated to
the school for becoming a business and enterprise college, the go-ahead
was given to research the interactive choices available. To ensure that all
1450 pupils at the school received ongoing benefit from the technology, it
was essential that the investment was made in an easy to use and resilient interactive solution.
Solution
Understanding the value of recommendation and referral, deputy head
teacher Julie Thompson approached her local education authority, North Tyneside. Having worked with many schools in the area implementing interactive whiteboard technology, the local authority advised the

secondary school. Considering this advice, Julie also spoke with the AV reseller already undertaking IT installations at the school. Gateshead
