Wireless CCTV

KBR provide wireless infrastructure solutions for CCTV. Modern day wireless is excellent at carrying video and therefore, CCTV images. Using the correct wireless technology and storing the images at carefully predefined points on the network can be a very cost effective way to deploy a CCTV network when compared to wired based CCTV.

By understanding the topology of the CCTV network infrastructure in more detail, significant cost savings can be gained by replacing costly fibre connectivity and the associated rental charges with wireless technology.

It is important from the outset to ascertain the minimum video quality level so the correct amount of bandwidth is made available for each security camera. The correct use of CCTV to IP encoders is also an important factor in the effectiveness of any overall solution.

Utilising quality of service (QoS) on the network allows data traffic of different priorities to traverse the same network. Voice, video and internet traffic can share the same bandwidth with the QoS data tags allowing the high priority traffic to "jump the queue" and reach their destination quicker. This is important to prevent "jitter" on voice traffic and to maintain a minimum video quality on the CCTV traffic.
